BOBS EYE VIEW
A STITCH IN TIME MAY SAVE YOUR ASS
Leave it to Texas. There was a blurb in yesterday's U.S.A. Today about an execution set for next week as well as a hearing about the execution. Convicted killer Charles Hood is scheduled to be executed on September 10th. Attorneys for Mr. Hood had requested a hearing on arguments that a former judge and district attorney were in an unethical romantic relationship during Hood's trial.
The hearing was granted. So far so good. The only problem is that it is scheduled for September 12th, two days after the scheduled execution. This brilliant piece of scheduling was done by State District Judge Robert Dry.
Twenty-two former judges and prosecutors, including ex-FBI director William Sessions, have asked Texas Governor Rick Perry to stop the execution because, according to their math, the hearing will take place two days after Mr. Hood would be dead. Thus far, Mr. Perry has made no decision on the request, but, as a compromise, will probably make a decision one day after the execution rather than two days.
POLL RESULT
Gallop, Kanter & Trot has asked 25 pro-life skydivers who have mustaches what their opinion is about hearings on executions taking place after the execution has been carried out.
11 skydivers thought the hearing should take place before the execution
5 skydivers thought the execution should take place before the hearing
9 skydivers had no opinion
The margin of error on this poll is plus or minus three lethal injection.
SEE YOU SOON.
