BOBS EYE VIEW
THE EYES HAVE IT
Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin usually wears rimless glasses, as she did during her speech the other night. Now those rimless glasses are hot, hot, hot. They start at a suggested price of $375, but depending on the type of lens, the price could be as much as $700. Palin owns seven pair of those glasses.
As reported in USA Today, it seems that the shape of Palin's rectangular lenses was custom-made by Home Optics, a retailer in Chugiak, Alaska. Owner Joy Leedham visited Palin's home in December and fitted her in the kitchen. I was trying to remember the last time my optician came to my house to fit me for lenses. I am still trying to convince my proctologist to come to my house to perform a colonoscopy.
According to Leedham, Palin considered nearly 300 frames. Palin's family helped picked the winning pair. The frame is a Kawasaki, and the color is 34 gray. I thought it was a 35.
The Kawasaki frames are made from titanium and mounted via a screwless, tension system. The more I learn about Sarah Palin, I am willing to bet that she is also mounted via a screwless, tension system.
