LET'S TALK SCARY

Aside from the Bobsled, the Skeleton is the most exciting and dangerous event at the Winter Olympics. When you participate in the Skeleton, you are going down an icy chute at 85 miles per hour, with your belly on the sledding equivalent of a cookie sheet. Your chin is 2 inches above the ice. There are no brakes and no steering wheel. It is headfirst, which means your skull acts as the front bumper.

Personally, I'd feel safer competing in the Skeleton than driving in south Florida. I describe driving in south Florida as going down an interstate, with the car in front of you going 20 miles per hour, in the left (passing) lane, with the left directional signal permanently on, and the car behind you 2 inches from your rear bumper, going 85 miles per hour.

Brakes are allowed, but people either use them all the time, or not at all. There is a steering wheel, but the majority of drivers cannot see over the top of it. The drivers who drive 85 miles per hour never use their directional signal, and are usually talking on a hand-held cell phone or sending a text message. The drivers who drive 20 miles per hour are legally dead.

I challenge any of the Skeleton competitors to drive in south Florida. After they have done that, the Skeleton will seem like a walk in the park!

Florida Driver's License Written Exam SAMPLE:

1) Can you see the big E on the eye chart over there? Over there! OVER THERE!

2) Can you breathe on and fog up the mirror I just put under your nose?

Congratulations. You are now the proud owner of a Florida driver's license.
