Bobs Eye View

"Driving Hasn't Been The Same Since I Installed Fun-House Rearview Mirrors."
 - Steven Wright

HEY, I'M WALKIN' HERE!

Tom Vanderbilt has just published a 402-page non-fiction book titled, "Traffic: Why We Drive The Way We Do (and What It Says About Us)".  I will wait for the movie to come out, but I want to report one amazing fact from the book to all of you.

Army ants are among the most efficient commuters in the world, and this is because of one simple reason: They all co-operate with one another.

Animal behaviorists have made videos of ant trails that show what appear to be three-lane highways with well defined, collective rules.

I have looked at some of these videos, and have seen something even the animal behaviorists missed.  There are teeny, tiny toll booths along those highways, and one lane of those three-lane army ant highways is a dedicated Easy-Pass Lane.

See You Soon.
