TRICKLE ON DOWN

Now that Exxon has posted the largest quarterly profits in the history of the world, and probably of the universe, (something like eleven gazillion dollars), I thought I would repeat a story I reported on a few years back, as it is even more relevant today.

There was an article in the Palm Beach Post about a Flori-DUH millionaire who suffered huge losses in the stock market.  He was forced to trade in his one hundred and four foot super yacht for a super yacht that was a mere ninety-three feet.  I wept like a baby after reading this.

I immediately thought of this poor man's family.  How much is one incredibly wealthy man expected to suffer?  I wondered why bad things sometimes happen to rich people.  That night I asked God how She could let something like this happen.  I guess She was out of town, or not listening to Her voice mail, as I did not get an answer.

I went to bed and cried myself to sleep.  When I awoke the next morning, I decided to devote the rest of my natural life, and perhaps even a small portion of my un-natural life, to helping the truly greedy among us get much needed tax relief.  I now understand why so many people are supporting John McCain.

When these millionaires and billionaires get the help they so richly deserve, then, and only the, will they trickle down on the rest of us poor slobs.  I ask that you please remember the greedy in your prayers.

See You Soon.

Now that Exxon has just posted the largest quarterly profits in the history of the world, and probably of the universe, (something like eleven gazillion dollars), I thought a story I reported several years ago is even more relevant today.

I couldn't stop thinking about that poor man's family.  How much is one super wealthy man expected to suffer?  I wondered why bad things sometimes happen to rich people.  That night, after wiping away my tears, I asked God how She could let something like this happen.  I guess She was out of town, or wasn't checking Her voice mail, as I didn't get an answer.

The next morning I decided to right this wrong, and devote the rest of my natural life, and perhaps even a small portion of my un-natural life, to helping the truly greedy among us get much needed tax relief.  I now understand why people support John McCain.

When these millionaires and billionaires get the help they so richly deserve, then, and only then (if we are lucky), they will trickle down on the rest of us poor slobs.  I ask that you please, please remember the greedy in your prayers.

See You Soon.
