Bobs Eye View

"I play the harmonica.  The only way I can play is if I get my car going really fast, and stick it out the window."
-Steven Wright

THE DAY THE MUSIC CRIED

On February 3, 1959, musicians Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash.  Singer Don McLean wrote about this in his song, "Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie", which reached number one shortly after its release in 1972.  The tragedy was referred to as..."The day the music died."

Yesterday, August 3rd, was the anniversary of another musical tragedy.  On that day in 1996, the infernal wedding-reception song "Macarena," by Los Del Rio, hit number one on the Billboard music charts.
