Bobs Eye View

POLLS, SCHMOLLS - PART II

The other morning, as I was eating a dish of chocolate chip mint ice cream and sipping my first martini of the day, I was watching CNN.  As every television station does nearly every second of every day as we get closer to the Presidential election, they reported some poll results - this one on the results of a Gallup poll regarding how both Clinton & Obama would do against John McCain in the general election.  It seems that, as of yesterday, Clinton would beat McCain by 4 percentage points, while McCain would beat Obama by 3 percentage points - at least according to the 9 people who were polled.

We here at Bobs Eye View have decided to form our own polling organization, and have named it Gallop, Canter and Trot.  Someday soon, I hope we get a stadium named after us - possibly the Squibb Stool Softener Stadium can be re-named the Gallop, Canter & Trot Arena.

Our very first poll concerns how well Clinton, Obama and McCain would do against Sheriff Andy Taylor, Deputy Barney Fife,  Aunt Bea and Opie, the main characters from the old Andy Griffith television show.  We polled a lot of people who were waiting in line to get gas.

Aunt Bea would beat John McCain by 3 points
Clinton would beat Aunt Bea by 5 points
Obama and Aunt Bea would be in a statistical tie

Opie, due to the cuteness factor (never mind that he is not old enough to run for President) would trounce all three - Obama by 15 points, Clinton by 19 points and McCain by 28 points and 68 years.

Barney Fife would trounce all three as well - Obama by 13 points, Clinton by 21 points, and McCain by a spectacular 37 points.  In addition, Barney would probably arrest McCain for being a flip-flopper.

Andy Taylor would wipe the floor with all three - Obama by 28 points, Clinton by 36 points and McCain by 41 points.

Even though he was a minor character, I wonder how Floyd the Barber would have done against Obama, Clinton and McCain?

Tomorrow, we will see how Obama, Clinton and McCain do against the cast of Leave It to Beaver.

See You Tomorrow.
